Modeling Recreational Boat Traffic in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta
This multiple year project funded by the California Department of Boating and Waterways utilizes the network analysis tools in ArcGIS with various geospatial data themes and field surveys to predict recreational boat traffic on specific waterway segments and days in the Delta. The initial results are promising (boat traffic predictions match boat counts at the majority of sites at which boats were counted) and current work is focused on expanding the model to predict the contributions of boat moored at marinas on recreational boat traffic throughout the Delta.
